There is a curiosity that is probably unique in the Federal Republic of Germany in the municipality of Büchen: since August 1990, the road bridge over the Elbe-Lübeck Canal between Büchen and Büchen-Dorf along Landesstraße 205 has been closed. Inaugurated in 1952 as the largest prestressed concrete bridge in Schleswig-Holstein at the time, the bridge was closed on one side in August 1990 for reasons of reduced load-bearing capacity and stability. The new construction of the bridge, which was planned from 1992 onwards, has not yet taken place.
