The only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, opened in 1900, connects the communities of Siebeneichen and Fitzen. The cable ferry is a tourist attraction
transporting vehicles and groups of people. Individuals are still ferried across by
rowboat.
The ferry has been operated as a community project since 2017. The supporting association organizes, among other things, the ferry service, generally from April to October 3rd, only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, sometimes by volunteer ferrymen.
