    Music Pavilion, Hofgarten Innsbruck
    Historical Overview
The origins of today's Hofgarten can be traced back to the end of the 14th century, when Duke Leopold IV had fruit and vegetable gardens established on this site. The oldest surviving view of the Hofgarten dates back to 1649. Before the garden was redesigned in the Baroque style under Maria Theresa in 1763, an Imperial Summer House, the present-day Music Pavilion, was built in its center in 1733. The garden design still visible today dates back to 1857, when the Hofgarten underwent its final transformation into an English landscape park.
Around 1830, the Imperial Summer House was converted into a pavilion and provided with railings and windows. The single-story building consists of three-thirds of axes, with the central one emphasized on each side by triangular gables with sculpted shields. The pavilion has a hipped roof and windows. The imperial summer house was converted into a pavilion in 1830. After a general renovation between 2018 and 2020, it shines in new splendor.
