Beautiful house facade at the golden roof in Innsbruck
The many colorful town houses are part of the beautiful ensemble of Innsbruck's old town. The Helblinghaus is particularly ornate and striking, right next to Innsbruck's most popular attraction - the golden roof.(innsbruck-altstadt.com/sehenswuerdheiten/helblinghaus/)

The name of the Helblinghaus goes back to one of the owners. Sebastian Hölbling was the owner of the house around 1800, but the name "Helbling" has remained. The cashier of the mint in Hall, 20 kilometers away, also owned the Helblinghaus. Under him it was probably redesigned in Baroque style. The magnificent house in Innsbruck's old town has not always looked like this. Before it got the beautiful baroque decoration on the facade, the house was built in the Gothic style. The Gothic town house from the 15th century was probably decorated in such baroque style by the plasterer Anton Gigl from Wessobrunn. The former owner, Sebastian Helbling, ran a café in the Helblinghaus in the 19th century. Nothing remains of that. Today people live in the Helblinghaus, it is not open for sightseeing. But a look at the facade is enough to please the eye. Particular attention is paid to the bay windows with their rich decorations: leaves, shells, putti, masks, fruits, etc.
