Schellenberg bridge

On January 17, 2003, after more than 12 years of wandering or interim storage, the Schellenberg Bridge found its new location as a pedestrian bridge over the Eyach. In order to save them from being scrapped, five courageous citizens of Balingen formed the interest group "Historical Schellenberg Bridge" in 1990. They bought the bridge and had this technical cultural monument of almost 80 tons stored at their own expense. Finally, the local council Balingen decided in 1999 with a narrow majority for the current location behind the city cemetery. ....

Is a bridge over the Eyach in Balingen. Today's for pedestrians connects Hindenburgstrasse with Rollerstrasse. Originally it served as a bridge over the Zollernalbbahn, connecting Wilhelmstrasse and Behrstrasse. Since Heinrich Schellenberg's factory was in the immediate vicinity of the old location, it was popularly known as the “Schellenberg Bridge”. It was mainly used by students on their way to the Silcher School.
