Congress Street is the commercial center of the Portland Peninsula. With a length of more than 9 km, the street stretches through several neighborhoods and ends on Munjoy Hill overlooking the Eastern Promenade. In 2009, the Portland City Council declared much of Congress Street a historic district. The western section of the street includes the city's arts district.
