Menzlingen is one of the oldest settlements in the municipality of Rösrath and is considered a “classic example” of a village-like self-contained type of settlement, because like “in a small medieval town, the houses are still sticking tightly there today - as they were during the Thirty Years' War tight. ”At the time of the Bergische Electors, Menzlingen was still a separate community and until 1850 it belonged to the Altenrath church district.
