The monastery, declared a Site of Cultural Interest since 1931, is a mixture of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architectural styles. Monastic life ended in 1836, and since then the complex has been privately owned, although the church serves as the local parish church.

Access to the monastery complex has historically been limited, but it can now be visited through guided tours and special events, mainly during the high season. The interior church has an imposing Baroque façade with a statue of the Virgin of the Sea, while the interior retains Cistercian Gothic elements.
