The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary and Saint Ignatius (Czech: Kostel Neposkvrněného početí Panny Marie a svatého Ignáce) by Carlo Lurago and Giovanni Domenico Orsi de Orsini was built between 1655 and 1659 by the Jesuit order.[9] The richly decorated baroque portals were created in the workshop of Kilian Ignaz Dienzenhofer. There is an extensive crypt beneath the church. Due to special ventilation conditions in the catacombs, the bodies of the 37 members of the Jesuit order and numerous members of southern Bohemian noble families buried there were naturally mummified and have been preserved this way. The associated collegiate buildings were desecrated after the Jesuit order was abolished in 1773 by Josephinian reforms. After various uses, the complex now houses, among others, a monastery and a college. the city library

The Black Tower is the work of the architect Antonín Salnellyn, who built it between 1547 and 1557. The tower, which dominates the entire city, is 81 m high, has 5 floors and was built in the late Gothic style from unplastered hewn blocks (hence the name The Black Tower).
