The Fernley Observatory, built in 1901, houses a Thomas Cook six-inch refractor telescope which was made in 1869.

The observatory and telescope was given as a public gift by its owner Joseph Baxendell Jr in memory of his father in 1901.
Fabulous observatory set in the wonderful grounds of Hesketh Park and steeped in history. Open during summer months with events run by Southport.
