The Georghausener Mühle was first mentioned in documents in 1466. It is not known who the person George was, whose name has been carried through the centuries as presumably the first court lord. It is assumed that Knight Quade was the owner of the Georghausen farm and mill estate before 1380.

The mill that existed until then was destroyed for unknown reasons shortly before 1466. The mill originally belonged to Georghausen Castle. The mill was maintained by the “Herrenhof” and, if necessary, the millstones, as well as the axes and grinding passages next to the water passage, were replaced. Today the mill is privately owned.

The town of Georghausen is a district of the municipality of Lindlar, Oberbergischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia. Georghausen is located west of Lindlar in the Sülztal near the state road 284, which leads from Hommerich to Brombach (Overath). The Georghausen residential area can be reached via a street of the same name from the L284 state road. Neighboring towns are Offermannsheide, Schmitzhöhe and Welzen.

In 1466, both the town and Georghausen Castle were first mentioned in documents as Georghausen Castle and the associated mill. The document mentions the acquisition and construction of the Georghausen house, although this must have taken place before this point in time.

The stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk was brought from Drensteinfurt to Georghausen in 1904 and has stood on the bridge at the Georghausener Mühle ever since. Since 1951, the castle complex has served as a restaurant and clubhouse for a golf course.

The Georghausener Mühle, also called the Ölsiefenermühle, was a grain, bone, oil and sawmill on the Sülz and was part of the Georghausen estate.

On the Cologne-Mülheim–Lindlar railway line, the section from Immekeppel to Lindlar was opened in 1912. At this time the trains continued to Lindlar without stopping in Georghausen. During the Second World War, refugees came from Cologne looking for a stop in their new home. This led to a stopping point being set up in Georghausen in 1943, which remained until the line was closed. The railway crossed the street in front of the half-timbered houses; tickets could be bought at the mill.

Johann von Nepomuk was brought from Drensteinfurt to Georghausen in 1904 and has stood on the bridge at the Georghausener Mühle ever since.

Georghausen Castle stands in the Sülz valley less than a kilometer west of the town of Schmitzhöhe. It is a two-part complex, consisting of a baroque mansion and an outer bailey to the south.
