Hiking
Dôle, located on Doubs and Rhine -Rhône Canal, was until 1678 the capital of Franche-Comté, until it was replaced by Besançon. The place, already settled to prehistoric times and later a Gallo-Roman oppidum, has since 1422 a famous university. In today's cityscape, especially the church Notre-Dame (16th century) with the strong pillars, the patrician houses from the Renaissance and the filigree iron girders of the market hall are striking.
