After the liberation, the Ministry of Reconstruction built a new village called Nea Vorizia near the destroyed village. In this way, the residents who had lost their homes were given a new home. However, the new village was never inhabited. In fact, the residents decided to build their houses on the axis of the old village called Vorizia. The new (ghost) village with the destroyed houses is still there to remind the new generations of those years.

Vorizia, like many other villages in the Ida region, was the target of several searches during the German occupation of Crete. In mid-August 1943, German units searched Vorizia in search of the partisan group around Petrakogeorgis (Georgios Petrakis), which was staying very close to the village at the time. As the attacking Germans suffered losses in battles with the Petrakogeorgis group, the residents of Vorizia were expelled from the village in "retaliation" and the village was bombed and completely destroyed.
