A little way off the art trail you can discover the artwork "Pool Lines". Two large triangles together form a third triangular shape, their waist-high walls are about a meter wide, tapering and sloping towards the ground. The sculpture Pool Lines by the Mexican artist Sofía Táboas is covered with shimmering green mosaic tiles.

The sculpture “Pool Lines” by the Mexican artist Sofía Táboas is a fascinating work of art along the Emscherkunstweg in Dortmund-Schüren. Since the end of 2023, it has enriched the art landscape of the Ruhr area.

The installation consists of two large triangles that together form a third triangular shape. The waist-high walls are clad with green shimmering mosaic tiles that are reminiscent of the tiles of a swimming pool. This design evokes associations with archaeological remains of a pool or even a mystical Bermuda Triangle.

“Pool Lines” is located in a green area between an industrial estate and the “Im Massbruch” allotment garden in Dortmund-Schüren, not far from the renaturalized Emscher. The exact address is Gevelsbergstraße 120, 44269 Dortmund.

The sculpture invites visitors to sit on the walls and look at the surroundings from a new perspective. Through its integration into the landscape and at the same time its striking presence, it encourages us to think about the relationship between nature and architecture.

The Emscherkunstweg stretches along the Emscher from the source in Holzwickede to the mouth in Dinslaken and includes over 20 works of art. “Pool Lines” is the 23rd work of art on this path and the first work by an artist from Mexico.
