The Riflemen's Chapel on Totenberg (the Grabenschuster House was located here)

Below the parish church of the Assumption of Mary stands a small chapel with a pointed roof, which was built by the Aibling Mountain Riflemen's Company in 1984. Inside, two figures - the town's patron saint, St. George, and St. Sebastian, the patron of riflemen - flank an altar painting that depicts the Christmas Massacre in Sendling in 1705 quite realistically. The contingent of so-called Oberland farmers attempted to drive the Austrian occupation out of Munich in order to free the Bavarian electoral princess. However, the Austrian troops repelled this attack at Sendling and subsequently murdered hundreds of farmers, despite repeated pardons. A thousand men from the Aibling district court also followed the contingent. Only a few returned. In memory of these fallen citizens of Aibling, who are also remembered at the annual Sebastiani celebration on January 20th, the chapel was built on the spot where the Grabenschusterhaus had previously stood.
