The Datteln-Hamm Canal (DHK, waterway code: 70301) is a federal waterway and branches off from the Dortmund-Ems Canal in Datteln. From here it runs parallel to the Lippe on its south side in an easterly direction through Waltrop, Lünen, Bergkamen to Hamm. There it ends in the Schmehausen canal port at the Westfalen power station.

The construction of the canal was decided in 1870. The first expansion stage was completed in 1914, just two weeks before the outbreak of the First World War. It reached beyond the Hamm city port via the Hamm lock. In 1926 the canal was expanded to Schmehausen via the Werries lock and put into operation in 1933, where it now ends in a large harbor basin at the Westfalen power station. The canal was originally intended to be built as far as Lippstadt.
