    Presumably built as a hammer forge, the Weghammer was first expanded to its current form by Andreas Töpper in 1832 as a gas pipe factory.

    Due to industrial developments as well as changing demand and ownership structures, different uses developed.

    The industrial building was a rolling mill, gas pipe factory and malleable foundry. The Töpper gas pipe factory was integrated into the neighboring "Josef Heiser, formerly J. Winter's Sohn axle and ironware factory". Wagon axles for carriages and finally individual parts for steel bottles were manufactured. Later, the Heiser factory, last owned by the Reitlinger family, was taken over by Worthington Industries, which still produces steel bottles at the Kienberg site today.
