The highest peak in the High Tatras is the Gerlachovský štít (Gerlachovský štít or colloquially Gerlachovka) at 2,655 metres. The mountain thus also claims several other superlatives: the highest peak in Slovakia and the Carpathian mountain range, as well as the highest peak in Central Europe east of the Alps.
