The parish church in Schaidt was built around the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries in honor of Pope Leo IX, a native of Alsace. The oldest Schaidt parish seal, dating from 1414, bears this pope's image. The church's interior was renovated and remodeled several times in the 19th century, and again in 1930. In 1969, a fundamental redesign of the church's floor plan began. The nave, which had previously been oriented west-east, was now oriented south-north. The remodeled church was consecrated on December 19, 1970. From 2009 to 2010, the choir was painted and redesigned.
