September 11, 2001 is burned into our collective memory - the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Numerous firefighters also lost their lives on 9/11. In 2002, 50 American red oaks were planted to mark the occasion in the presence of the surviving relatives of firefighters who died on duty at the World Trade Center. The memorial grove is a sign of solidarity among firefighters.
