Information Pavilion (Wood-Natural Fiber Pavilion) "Innovative Roof Construction"
Wood-Natural Fiber Pavilion The exhibition pavilion "Wood-Natural Fiber Pavilion" will not only be a highlight on the Argenwiese. It is also a sustainable, resource-efficient alternative to conventional construction and therefore an important milestone towards sustainability in architecture. The pavilion is the result of many years of research by the Cluster of Excellence "Computer-Based Design and Construction" by Prof. Achim Menges and Prof. Jan Knippers, head of the "Institute for Building Structures and Structural Design" at the University of Stuttgart.

Facts about the wood-natural fiber pavilion
• Roof area: 447 sqm (including roof overhang)
• Patio facade: 70 sqm
• Pavilion facade outside: 236 sqm
• Floor area: approx. 380 sqm
• Diameter: approx. 25 meters
• 20 wood-natural fiber hybrid beams as a load-bearing roof structure
• Natural fiber made from flax, natural, renewable, biodegradable, regionally available
• Facade: steel-glass facade, double thermal insulation glazing
• The challenge for the load-bearing structure made of the natural fiber hybrid beams is the very high snow loads in the Allgäu
• Construction costs for research project: €1.65 million net
• Construction period: December 2023 to April 2024
