The water tower from 1899 supplied the Cappenberg Castle from a deep well in the park. In 1927 the castle was connected to the public water supply. As a result, the tower lost its function.
The tower is part of the Schloss Cappenberg monument. In 1992 it was restored. Today it offers a wonderful view as a lookout tower.
