The former fortifications of Stadtilm have only been preserved in parts. Anyone expecting a Rothenburg o. d. Tauber here is aiming too high. However, the recently inaugurated circular route provides interesting insights into the city's development over the last 800 years. And anyone with a penchant for historical fortifications will definitely get their money's worth. At various stops, display boards with old photographs and new texts provide informative access to what once was, compared to what is today.
