Since 2008, a monument commemorating the founder of the empire and first German Chancellor Otto Prince von Bismarck (1815-1898) has stood on the northwest corner of Bismarckplatz in Lahde. The bronze relief with the head and the stone with the name of the "Iron Chancellor" come from the original Bismarck monument from 1927, which had to make way for a road construction project in 1965.
