Hiking
These dunes isolate the eastern part of the Flemish maritime plain from the sea.
They were formed during the Quaternary period. This part of the coast was broken (the last time in 1953) and the sea was then able to penetrate inland.
The dunes of Fort Mahon extend over 2,820 meters of coastline.
They are a truly natural protection against the sea.
