The chapel is located on the "Saar-Leuktal-Panorama" dream loop. The location is very beautiful, in the middle of an arboretum, a collection of various old and young, sometimes rare trees. The chapel is very well maintained, the peace that surrounds this place invites you to reflect for a few moments.

[...]According to an inscription cartouche on the flat-roofed interior, the Holy Cross Chapel was built in 1704 by the Trier executioner Peter Raach in thanks for the healing he found here:
1704 - I HAD THIS HOLY CROSS CHAPEL ERECTED BY JOANNES PETER RAACH NR TO TRER AND MY HOUSEWIFE BARBARA BACK EHLEUTH IN HONOR OF GOD BECAUSE I WAS RELIEVED FROM MY ILLNESS IN THIS PLACE. The date 1815 in the round-arched pillar portal probably indicates a renovation or extension in which the baroque portal was reused. Above the portal under the gable field is a shell niche. Inside is a sandstone sarcophagus altar and a new Pietà. [Source: kulturdb.de]

On the grounds of the Cross Chapel there is an arboretum (a collection of various and rare tree species). An information board explains the arboretum in more detail.

Three benches invite you to linger.

From the Cross Chapel you have a beautiful view of the Hoste Tower, the highest point between the Saar and Upper Moselle at 435 m.

There is always a place to rest in front of the chapel. The Kreuzkapelle is also located directly on the beautiful route of the "Saar-Leuktal-Panorama" dream loop.
