Great cycling route along the Rhine with a beautiful wooden bridge
August 15, 2024
Between 1900 and 1901, the bridge was finally rebuilt on the pillars of the previous bridge. The bridge, which had a load capacity of 3.5 tonnes at the time of its opening, served as a crossing of the Rhine for both motorised and non-motorised traffic. After a flood and a dam burst in Schaan in 1927, the damaged bridge was repaired and raised again. The load capacity was increased to 6 tonnes during this work.[3] In 1975, the new, concrete New Rhine Bridge Vaduz–Sevelen was built around 200 metres south of the Old Rhine Bridge, so that the Old Rhine Bridge has only been accessible to non-motorised traffic since then.[2] After renovation work in the 1950s and 1980s, the last major renovation to date took place from 2009 to 2010.[4]

A monument that is absolutely worth seeing. Much more beautiful than any bridge. But be careful, the border is easy to miss.
