This church was dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The name (coming from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". He is often depicted - on paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance. Michael is - together with Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel - one of the four archangels who (according to human imagination) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the saints calendar is September 29th.

Small chapel that forms a triangle with two other Michael’s chapels (one of them near Cleebronn am Stromberg), which stands for the Trinity.

The Sankt Michaelskapelle on the Kapellenberg was built in 1748 on the basis of a vow by the master cooper Johannes Emmerich and his wife Regina at the highest point of the district (302 m above sea level). From the chapel you can see the Michaelskapelle near Cleebronn and the Michaelskapelle near Untergrombach when the visibility is good. The roof of the chapel is adorned with a triple cross, which should indicate the geographical triangle. In religion, the triangle symbolizes the eye of God or the trinity. In 1974 the hand-carved St. Michaels statue was stolen. Investigations were unsuccessful. A plaster figure of the saint was erected as a substitute, showing him with a lance instead of a sword. In 2011 the chapel was renovated by an Eichelberg family. The "Friends of St. Michael's Chapel" donated a new statue of St. Michael, which was cast in Italy and is still there today.
