    On the left side of the Lusatian Neisse, an artificially created 6.4 km long moat. The mill ditch begins at the mill weir within the East German Rose Garden and stretches for around six kilometers through the entire city center. At the level of Mühlenstraße, the ditch meets the town mill, which was also originally built in 1380 and greatly expanded in the 1920s and which continues to generate electricity using hydropower. In the northern part of the city, numerous cloth factories used to be served.
