In 1974, the then district home nurse Prof. Dr. Hermann Endrös the last thatched-roof house in the region before the demolition. After it was demolished from Döpshofen, the small farm house has been open to the general public a few kilometers further north on the banks of the Schwarzach in Oberschönenfeld since 1980 as the “Farmer Museum Staudenhaus” and is now managed by the Heimatverein für der Landkreis Augsburg e.V.

The Oberschönenfeld Museum is located in the Oberschönenfeld Cistercian Abbey in the Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park. It offers insights into the rural everyday culture of Swabia from 1900 onwards. The permanent exhibition uses biographies, objects and interactive stations to present topics such as rural life, working environments and the history of the abbey. The children's tour with the museum mascot Bernhard the cat is a highlight, especially for families. The museum was awarded the Bavarian Museum Prize in 2019.
