The Jacobiweiher is a particularly popular excursion destination in Frankfurt's city forest. The body of water was created in 1932 according to plans by the former head of the forestry office, Dr. Jacobi, initially as a rain retention basin by damming the Königsbach.
In Frankfurt's vernacular, the pond is also affectionately called "Lake Lucerne" because of its similarity in shape and the four surrounding settlements of Niederrad, Oberrad, Sachsenhausen and Neu-Isenburg.

Beautiful pond and riverside path for dogs and walkers of all ages. We do not recommend cycling directly along the riverside as there are many walkers. There is the option of stopping off at the "Oberschweinstiege", but it can be very busy on holidays and weekends. Towards Luisa train station there are a few other places to stop off without having to wait long.

A really recommendable destination for hikers, as you can extend your walk around the pond for as long as you like. You walk on mostly soft forest floors, which is very pleasant, and there are many benches around the pond from where you can have a beautiful view of the pond and the ducks.
