With the presentation of the herbal book, the construction of the medieval herb garden of Doornenburg Castle has been completed. An initiative of the volunteers of the green and handyman group. The completion was partly financed by the cash prize of 1,000 euros that the group won last year with the award of the Core with Pit designation.

The herb garden has 42 herbs. Together with Walahfrid Strabo's poems about herbs, visitors along the Linge can imagine themselves in the Middle Ages. Rob Frehé of the green group: “By using the herb booklet of the medieval monk Walahfrid, we have designed a clear and educational herb garden.”

The book is weatherproof. It contains a lot of information about herbs that have been used for centuries to heal people. The book is richly illustrated with reference to the book of hours of Sophia van Bijlandt, resident and owner of Doornenburg Castle. The herb garden is freely accessible all year round.
