The juniper heath is temporarily maintained by sheep and goats during the summer months. On an information board you can learn more about this juniper heath, which should give way to a spruce whale in the (I mean) 20th century. On a stone at the juniper heath this information is, also, who prevented this. I found this additional information very nice.
Long story short: Absolutely worth a visit.
