Ugchelen is originally known for its paper industry. In the past, there were no fewer than 11 paper mills in the Ugcheler Mark. This was due to the presence of clear and virtually iron-free spring water, originating from the Veluwe soil. This water was primarily used to drive the various water wheels, which in turn drove the hammer basins for crushing rags into paper pulp.

To keep the memory of the old days alive, a modern new water wheel has now been built here, including a fish ladder and an information column.

Here the modern mill wheel reminds of the Grote and Kleine Winnemolen.
