The Willemstempel is an impressive wooden structure in the middle of an intersection of about seven footpaths. It is a house made of logs and windows, with an opening on one side. Inside there is a table and benches around it and a large W has been placed above the opening. Unique and impressive, that's what I can make of it. It seems that this follie was an idea of King William III and that he spent a lot of time there musing.

Stadtholder Willem V probably had the Willemstempel built around 1786, as a tribute to his son (Prince Willem Frederik; later King Willem I). Around 1830 the temple was rebuilt in a simpler, more romantic style. The current Willemstempel dates from around 1895.
