The monument was designed as a lighthouse. The text on the front reads "1914-1918, 1940-1945, To the Belgian and Allied Airmen". With the text of the Flemish man of letters Karel VAN DE WOESTIJNE: “He fell like a seagull from a storm.” On the back the texts "To the Belgian air heroes and allies who won or died in the airspace of Koksijde." Also there is a bas relief with a little bit of the same, but it doesn't have to be the same as the tweed and it is exaggerated. The monument was erected on August 12, 1951. The bas-reliefs were carved by Joseph WITTERWULGHE (°1883, Brussels - † 1967, Uccle), and a student of Julien DILLENS. In 2004, the municipal council and the Circle of Friends of the Veterans of the Kwartier Koksijde installed a commemorative plaque for "All Military Airmen and Ground Crew of the Koksijde Air Base,Source: bel-memorial.org/cities/west-vlaanderen/koksijde/koksijde_mon_aviateurs.htm
