Construction of the cable car began in 1965 with the relocation of the lower station. In November 1967, the cable car from the castle to Kok-Tobe Mountain was opened. The total length of the line was 1727 meters, supported by three pylons. The lower station is located along Dostyk Avenue (Abay Street), and the journey time at that time was 6 minutes.

You take the cable car up Kök Töbe to enjoy the view. The city lies spread out before you, glittering in the sun, and to the left, the white peaks of the Tien Shan mountains rise beautifully into the sky.
Otherwise, people stroll through the amusement park below the TV tower. An apple sculpture (of course: Alma Ata = Father of the Apple) and a Beatles monument (I didn't find out why it's there) invite you to take selfies.
