The former St. Catherine's Monastery in Stendal was a gothic monastery of brick. It was founded in 1456 by Elector Frederick II of Brandenburg as a Benedictine nunnery. After the introduction of the Reformation, the monastery was converted in 1540 to the ladies pin, which was dissolved in 1945.
The Katharinenkirche is used today as a concert and event hall. Here you can also see the original of the Stendaler Rolands. In the former monastery buildings is the Altmärkische Museum.
