The Stendal Roland was built in 1525 and is one of the largest Rolands in Germany. For the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Roland, the city decided to have a bronze statue erected. This stands in front of the Altmark Museum and represents the construction of the Roland in 1525.

In front of the court arbor (today 'coffee cult') on the market is a stone Roland figure. This figure is a copy of the 1974 sculpture of 1525, which is kept in the Altmark Museum. The 7.80 m high standing figure is equipped with plate armor, a shield with the Brandenburg eagle and a shouldered sword.
