The Branitz Tree University was founded in 1846 by Prince Pückler. At the time, it was used to grow large, characterful trees that could be transplanted. Until 1945, this special tree nursery supplied the historic castle gardens with plants that were adapted to the barren soil of Lusatia. To this day, they make up the 25,000 trees in the inner park. Re-established by the foundation in 2011, today's Tree University works at the original location and supplies the park with trees of the future in times of drought, heat and extreme weather events. Climate change has also arrived here in Lusatia and in Branitz Park. The old trees in particular suffer from the extreme dryness and heat, which makes them more susceptible to pests and diseases. This is why hundreds of trees have already died in Branitz Park in recent years. Climate change will also bring about an extreme change in the appearance of Branitz Park - and also in other historic parks.

Stately tree. Unfortunately, I only have one branch in my photo. When I looked at the whole tree, the light was wrong and 3 steps later there was a new line of sight.😉
