The Laerbeek woods constitute an exceptional island of biodiversity. It is part of the Natura 2000 special conservation areas. Its rehabilitation aims to both preserve its ecological quality and serve an important recreational function. The past of Laerbeek wood is linked to the history of Dieleghem Abbey, founded in the 11th century.Like the Soignes forest, the woods are home to a large beech forest. A forest pond, from which one of the three rivulets of the wood flows, stretches for around thirty meters.
