At Zelz, the Neisse is blocked off by a weir that cannot be portaged. Shortly before the weir, on the right-hand side on the Polish side, is the entrance to the canal to the Siedlec hydroelectric power station. After about 800 meters, the boats have to be pulled out of the water at the bridge on the Polish side. At the exit point, you can rest and walk over the bridge to the cyclist's rest stop "Zum alten Zollhaus" on the German side and have a drink. The portage takes place on the road along the river on the Polish side for 300 meters around the power station. The deployment point in the underwater area is immediately behind the weir at the power station.

The Neisse weir near Zelz creates an impressive water landscape and marks an important point for water hikers and cyclists. The river is dammed here and cannot be navigated directly. The portage point on the Polish side leads along a hydroelectric power station that flows into a small canal. For kayakers, this means a detour of around 300 meters before they can get back into the river behind the weir.

The cyclists' rest stop "Zum alten Zollhaus" on the German side is also interesting and can be easily reached via the bridge. The surroundings invite you to take a rest and, with a bit of luck, you can also take a break at a small snack bar if it is open. The peaceful nature and the sound of the weir create a relaxed atmosphere that is particularly welcome after a long tour.

Wherever I went by, there was always plenty of water there.
