The design in the neo-Gothic style - at a time when classicism was still widely prevalent - was by the royal civil building inspector Joseph Daniel Ohlmüller. The building was constructed between 1834 and 1836 by the Rosenheim master builder Johann Karmann. It was consecrated on June 19, 1836.
