Female Students
by Irene Marquardt (1943-2023) near the German Library. Irene Marquardt was a freelance sculptor in Leipzig since 1969. In her works, she explored a new self-image of women in the GDR. Her "female students" gaze confidently out into the world from within their established framework; they remain close together, but are not shy and, of course, are naked. One of them even stands on tiptoe to get a better view.
