Built on an artificial elevation of the land, on the previous sanctuary probably destroyed by a fire, it has a pediment and a Doric frieze on the façade, decorated with metopes set in the sandstone, on slightly slender Doric columns.[1] The structure is simpler than that of the two temples dedicated to Hera (called "Temple of Neptune" and "Basilica"): it has the pronaos and the cella but lacks an adyton, or the treasure chamber at the back of the cella.
