This bridge became somewhat famous for the backdrop to the Tour De France which used 'Cote d' Grinton' when the event hosted the Grand Depart in 2014. Thousands of fans lined the roadside all around the bridge. In 2019 the bridge was washed away in floods, leaving the road impassable and threatening the World Cycling Championships road race which was being held in Harrogate that year. It was rebuilt and strengthend.

This small gritstone bridge sits on one of the old lead‑mining trackways across Grinton Moor, carrying miners, ore carts, and later walkers over a narrow beck on the high ground.
