De Warande is a former nature reserve and hunting ground in the west of Helmond that is now a public walking and recreational park. Part of this is the zoo southeast of the Warande - the former Jan Visser Park - which is largely located on a site where the Peapark country house previously stood. Nowadays, both sites form a unity and on the edge of the current park there are still remains of the country house, in the form of large concrete blocks. Peapark was the home of the textile manufacturer Piet de Wit and his family and stood here for about ten years.
