The Munich Gate, also called Nagelschmiedtor, stands in the northwest of the old town. The high medieval gate tower with a crenellated crown and a round arch is part of the 12th / 13th century. Century fortification. The lower part with the passage testifies to the Romanesque period (12th / 13th centuries). The upper floors are younger, but also date from the Middle Ages. It is the most beautifully preserved city gate in the district of Mühldorf am Inn.

Not only the city gate is worth seeing, the construction of the old town is also worth seeing.

The Nagelschmiedturm (=Munich Gate)
must already be in the 12th century. passed.
1218 awarded the Archbishop of Salzburg
the cathedral chapter the right food
duty-free in the Erding area in Mühldorf
through the »porta exterior« – the outer gate
to bring. This gate, also flesh gate
called, was at the end of the meat
benches and was not just a part of the city
fortification, but also served as
customs post. In 1828 it was due
disrepair aborted. Since it is in the
Deed expressly as »outer gate«
is drawn, the nailsmith must
tower, as an »inner gate« already existed
to have. The designation Nagelschmiedturm
has its origin in the fact that in the
adjoining houses the trade of
Nagelschmiede was based and this too
took over the defense of the tower.(muehldorf.de/227-Nagelschmiedturm.html)
