Where the Timmendorfer forest chapel was built in 1912, on the edge of a hill on an old reef under tall deciduous trees, only about 200 m from the Baltic Sea beach, forest services had already been held in the summer for about 20 years. The place grew, the guests came. The chapel was converted into a forest church in 1964 and expanded again in 1982.
