The Sainte-Croix collegiate church is a remarkable historic building, mentioned for the first time in 1178. It was the coronation place of Emperor Frederick II Barbarossa as king of Arles. In 1449, it was erected as a collegiate church by Pope Nicholas V at the request of the future Louis XI. The church suffered destruction in 1567 during the Wars of Religion, but was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century. Its bell tower, completed in 1555, is a notable example of Italian Renaissance architecture.
